Results of RedLEI Research for Development of a Latin American/Caribbean Early Grade Reading Network
Interest was high as ten research fellows on October 30, 2018 explained to an online audience of 86 webinar attendees the results of their projects for the Red para la Lectoescritura Inicial de Centroamerica y el Caribe (RedLEI) in Latin American and Caribbean countries for the development of a regional literacy network. RedLEI is a recently funded initiative by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to launch a network of regional scholars, following the engagement of the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala's (USG) leadership, to address research gaps relating to early grade reading in five countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
In this recording from the Research Summit, the ten fellows explain the thrust of their research projects; the project director speaks to using RedLEI as a model for developing research networks in similar regional or national settings; and UVG shares information on the importance of engaging a regional university in the process of developing such a network.
