Approved in 1999 by UNESCO, International Mother Language Day promotes the importance of linguistic diversity and multilingual education. The theme for 2019 is “Indigenous languages matter for development, peace building and reconciliation.”
To commemorate the event, UNESCO will sponsor a seminar and workshop at its headquarters in Paris. This year International Mother Language Day is framed by the International Year of Indigenous Languages 2019. We invite you to celebrate in your own way.
