Celebrate International Mother Language Day with the Global Reading Network

Mother languages in a multilingual approach are essential components of quality education, which is itself the foundation for empowering women and men and their societies,” says UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova. International Mother Language Day on February 21 recognizes the critical importance of mother languages throughout the world.

Save the date! The Global Reading Network will celebrate International Mother Language Day by hosting a day-long event on February 22 in Bethesda, Maryland. Check the GRN website for further details as they become available.
