Today marks the 20th observance of International Mother Language Day (IMLD). Approved in 1999 by UNESCO, IMLD promotes the importance of linguistic diversity and multilingual education. The theme for 2019 is “Indigenous languages matter for development, peace building and reconciliation.”
This year International Mother Language Day is framed by the International Year of Indigenous Languages 2019. We invite you to celebrate in your own way.
