“Never stop learning and never stop dreaming. Never lose hope.” This ending from a letter written by Muzoon Almellehan, a teenage refugee from Syria, serves as a message of hope for more than 75 million children worldwide who are being denied an education because of humanitarian emergencies. The message marks the anniversary of the Education Cannot Wait fund being launched.
Despite the overwhelming worldwide need, less than 2% of humanitarian aid goes to education. The Education Cannot Wait fund was launched to help address that situation. The fund is currently helping to provide schooling in 10 countries affected by emergencies, including Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan and the Central African Republic.
