Few Seats Remain for Global Reading Network's Event on October 13

Register now to hear presentations by noted education experts Dr. Harry Patrinos and Dr. Luis Crouch on “New Evidence on the Impacts of Reading/Literacy: A Discussion with the Members of the Global Reading Network of Practice.” Hosted by GRN at the Reading within Reach headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the program will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 13. This will be followed by a half hour networking time during which attendees can share information about their reading programs.

Both panelists examine the evidence on public and private returns to increasing and sustaining investments in reading/literacy skills, including productivity and growth benefits to business and the economy. Dr. Harry A. Patrinos, Practice Manager for the East Asia and Pacific Region of the World Bank’s Education Global Practice, will discuss a recent World Bank-commissioned paper, “The Case for Investing in Early Grade Reading.” Dr. Luis A. Crouch, Chief Technical Officer with RTI’s International Development Group, will present on outcomes from reading/literacy investments in the Asia region from a forthcoming publication, “Why Should Asia Invest in Early Grade Reading?”
