Global Digital Library Launches Developer Portal

On May 14, the Global Digital Library (GDL) launched a developer platform. The goal of the portal is to enable communities of developers, designers and content providers to reuse software, content and design elements from the GDL in new projects. GDL hopes that this open approach to digital development will help increase collaboration in the digital development community and avoid duplication of work. Learn more about the GDL developer platform here.

A flagship activity within the Global Book Alliance, GDL has been developed to increase the availability of high-quality reading resources in underserved languages. Specifically, the focus is on early grade reading instruction books and storybooks for leisure reading, although GDL also links to some interactive resources, such as literacy games.
