According to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), there are currently more than 25 million refugees worldwide. More than half of these are under the age of 18.
To raise awareness of this situation, the United Nations established World Refugee Day. Held each year on June 20, the day commemorates the strength, courage, and perseverance of millions of refugees throughout the world. To learn more, visit this page on the United Nations website.
