With the recent release of the new United States Government Strategy for International Basic Education and the Draft United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Education Policy, efforts to improve early grade learning continue to be at the fore of USG efforts to support improvements in quality education for all. With this in mind, the Reading within Reach initiative (REACH) is providing multiple in-person and online learning opportunities for members of the Global Reading Network (GRN) community of practice to learn about and share research, experiences and best practices to date with respect to early grade reading improvement.
From October 23-26, 2018, REACH will hold a workshop in Chevy Chase, Maryland for those who support early grade reading programs. The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with an opportunity to engage in facilitated learning and discussion about key topics related to early grade reading program design, implementation and evaluation. All levels of experience are welcome. Sessions will include:
Presenters will be Adrienne Barnes, Florida State University; Alison Pflepsen, REACH; Marion Fesmire, Florida State University; and Amy Pallangyo, REACH.
We hope the learning and discussion that takes place throughout the workshop catalyzes improved program design, implementation, collaboration and sharing beyond the life of the workshop.
