This month’s GRN webinars spotlight the critical issue of Disabilities in Reading. On June 7, more than 60 people listened as Joshua Josa of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provided an overview of USAID’s work on inclusive education. Then Corinne Vinopol of the Institute for Disabilities Research and Training (IDRT) and Kristina Solum of School-to-School International (STS) described an All Children Reading initiative focused on supporting hard of hearing/deaf children in Morocco, co-funded by World Vision, the Australian Government and USAID. Nicholas Hoekstra of the World Intellectual Property Rights Organization served as discussant, offering further insight. During the webinar, listeners submitted questions, which the speakers answered at the end.
The June 21 webinar, scheduled from 9:00 – 10:00 AM (EDT), will allow participants to discuss other local level opportunities and challenges for implementing programs for children who have disabilities in reading. Our scheduled panelists are: Natasha Graham from UNICEF and Rebecca Rhodes from USAID. Moderating the discussion will be Aristarick Lyimo, GRN Teaching and Curriculum Development Specialist. Attendees will be able to ask questions of the panelists and download the materials they present. Register here for the webinar.
