RTI International Hosts Event: “From Learning to Adapting”

On May 17, an audience of nearly 250 individuals (both in-person and online) representing more than 40 organizations attended an event hosted by RTI International’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, Learning and Adapting (MERLA) Community of Practice titled “From learning to adapting: How do we get to learning, and where do we go from there?” Panelists Heidi Reynolds (MEASURE Evaluation), Easter Dasmarinas (USAID/Philippines, LuzonHealth Project), Tara Sullivan (K4Health) and Stacey Young (USAID/PPL) discussed USAID’s Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) approach.

A recent article by Rebecca Flueckiger posted on USAID’s Learning Lab website summarizes the event and lists key takeaways:

  • Build it into what you’re already doing.
  • Move away from linear approaches.
  • Measure your work and link it to value.
  • Keep the focus on the “C” in CLA.
