Personal Information Collection and Use
The Global Reading Network collects personal information on individuals who submit tools, research, or program information, including their full name, professional title, organizational affiliation and its address, email address, and phone number.
The purpose of collecting this personal information is to support the Global Reading Network in establishing a repository of research, tools, and other resources on early grade reading that can be shared with education specialists globally.
Personal information, including the submitter’s name, professional title, and organizational affiliation and address, will only be used to credit these individuals to their contribution in the network’s repository. If a submission is selected for inclusion, this information will be publically viewable on the Global Reading Network website.
Contact information, including the submitter’s email address and phone number, will only be used to in the instance that these individuals need to be contacted in relation to their submission.
Session Information Collection and Use
When you visit the Global Reading Network website, we may store some or all of the following: IP address from which you accessed the site; the date and time of access; the URL from which you linked to our site; the files or words you searched for; the website pages you visited; or the items on a page on which you clicked.
We do not track any personal information through this process. We only use this information to find out about our users’ session experience, including how they get directed to our site, what features on the site are most popular, and how we can improve our website.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
The Global Reading Network does not share personal information with other people or non-affiliated companies except when we have an individual’s permission, or under the following circumstances:
1. When we respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; or
2. When we believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, or situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of a person or infringement on intellectual copyright.
Confidentiality and Security
The Global Reading Network limits access to personal information to staff who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information in order to do their jobs and collate the submitted resources on the network’s repository.
We take all reasonable precautions to keep personal information secure and we have put in place physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect your personal information.
If at any time you would like your personal information corrected or amended, please contact our staff with the request. In accordance with the Federal Records Act, all unpublished personal information stored on the Global Reading Network website will be disposed of at the close of the Reading within Reach project.*
