Information and Communication Technology
Technology is revolutionizing the way people interact, learn and do business in every corner of the globe.
Information and communication technologies (ICTs) include a broad range of technologies, including phones, e-Readers, tablet computers, flash memory, radios, and other audio/visual devices. Potential applications for education are broad, and cover uses such as program administration, student assessment, professional development, community engagement, and content provision.
ICT offers solutions to educational barriers in the developing world presented by conflict or limited access to educational resources that children use and understand. ICT education also prepares learners for participation in a modern global economy; however, it is critical that technology be integrated appropriately and with a strategy for sustainability. USAID encourages an evidence-based integration of appropriate, cost-effective ICT to support program outcomes.
